Before he joined the team at Remedy, Greg Louden practiced his trade in another artistic discipline. His work in film has earned him an Academy Award.

Louden was a member of the visual effects team for Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The movie, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, won six Oscars, including the award for best visual effects.

On Quantum Break, Louden is working as a level designer and scripter.  is using a transmedia approach with live-action segments interspersed between gameplay chapters. Players will guide the course of the story by taking control of villain Paul Serene during key moments.

The title involves time manipulation, and when we met up with creative director Sam Lake during the Xbox One launch, we had a chance to learn how that will work. You can read that entire interview here.

Our Take
This is an admirable achievement, and I’m interested to hear from Louden how his experience working in film translates into game design and development. Quantum Break is an ambitious project with filmic elements that overlap with the work Louden has done in film.
