DICE Still Repairing Battlefield 4, "Netcode" Fixes Coming

EA and DICE just announced that fixes are coming for Battlefield 4’s online performance. This is on top of updates that begin to improve “rubber banding,” though additional fixes for that are still coming.

Other issues that DICE is planning to address include player death sync (the issue causing a kill cam seemingly prior to death), improvements to how often the in-game world updates, instant deaths while sprinting caused by mathematical errors, and more.

DICE did add new networking icons to help players diagnose problems. These indicate lagging connection to the server and packet loss.

Battlefield 4 has been plagued by problems since its October launch, with EA and developer DICE committing to fix the issues prior to working on DLC or other projects. In the interim, the Second Assault DLC was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Our Take
Something isn’t lining up here. EA and DICE committed to fixing the game before working on other projects or DLC. Yet, these problems still exist and Second Assault was completed and shipped. Battlefield players should be having an optimal experience at this point, but clearly there is more work still to be done and DICE has definitely moved on to other work, such as the Naval Strike expansion pack scheduled for late March.
