Shin Megami Tensei Heading To iOS This Month

by Kyle Hilliard on Mar 01, 2014 at 06:27 AM

Update: Atlus does have a release date for Shin Megami Tensei on iOS. The game will be available March 18 according to Atlus' Twitter account.

Original story:

The original Shin Megami Tensei is coming to North America for the first time, and it will be available on iOS devices.

Despite getting some of the sequels (most recently Shin Megami Tensei IV), the very first game in the Shin Megami Tensei series has never made it to North America. It released in 1992 for the Super Famicon, and has even received ports to other consoles in Japan, but never here in North America. This version of the game is a port of the Japanese Game Boy Advance re-release from 2003.

You can check out a trailer for the iOS game below. It will be available this month, but Atlus does not have an exact release date or price.

Our Take
Unlike Square Enix's Final Fantasy iOS ports, which change the art style drastically, this port seems to retain the original look and graphics – which is awesome. I don't know why other publishers, like Capcom, insist on changing the way a classic 16-bit game looks for iOS.
