Rumor: Valentine’s Day To Mark Start Of Titanfall Beta

by Mike Futter on Jan 27, 2014 at 01:49 AM

Monday kicks off with more evidence of an upcoming Titanfall beta. This time, we’re seeing posters from French retailer Micromania (disclosure: Micromania is owned by Game Informer parent company GameStop).

French outlet Xboxygen shares an image of the posters, which promise a start to the beta on February 14. The site also suggests that the beta will run through February 19 and is exclusive to those that pre-order from Micromania/GameStop, though nothing on the poster seems to indicate either of these details (and as such should not be considered as reliable as the visual evidence).

The poster lists all three platforms on which the game will appear, but doesn't specify if the beta will come to all three. We're very eager to see how Titanfall looks and performs on the Xbox 360.

We’ve reached out to Respawn and GameStop for comment. Stay tuned for updates.

Our Take
Between last week’s apparently Origin slip-up that revealed the existence of a beta (something that has not yet been officially confirmed by EA or Respawn) and these posters, it looks like a beta is in the cards. Given that the content of the Alpha is under permanent NDA, it’s unlikely that we’ll get a list of changes (if any) between the two.

It’s also important to note that “beta” might simply be a misuse for ease of communication to consumers. It is likely that a month prior to release that the testing will be focused on server loads rather than substantial changes to the balancing, gameplay, and core mechanics.
