Lightning Returns Demo Out Today, Free Costume DLC For Playing
Following this morning’s news of retailer-specific pre-order bonuses for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Square Enix has announced the availability of a demo. You can play it on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but the publisher is incentivizing the latter.
PlayStation 3 downloads come with the Utsusemi Garb DLC, which includes the Heavenly Fan weapon and Kaminari (“lightning” in Japanese) shield. If you miss out on the demo, you’ll be able to purchase the DLC later with other costumes.
The demo takes place in Snow’s Yusnaan palace. If you complete the demo (on either system) and submit your battle score during the final battle against Zaltys, you’ll unlock the Siegfried outfit when the game arrives.
The demo is available now on Xbox 360 and later today on PlayStation 3. Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be out on February 11, 2014.
Our Take
This is great news for those that have been following Lightning’s adventure on PlayStation 3. It’s unfortunate that there isn’t something comparable on Xbox 360, but those interested in the Utsusemi Garb should be able to download it (for a fee) later on. At least both platforms get the Siegfried bonus just for playing and submitting a score.
