Hearthstone In Open Beta Right Now For North American Players

by Mike Futter on Jan 21, 2014 at 10:05 AM

The time has come, Warcraft and collectible card game fans. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is now in open beta for North American players.

In order to get started with Blizzard’s free-to-play collectible card game, you need only download the client. The tutorial takes you through the basics, and you’ll be able to unlock different heroes to lead your minions into battle.

Blizzard says that other regions will be entering open beta in the next few days. Support for Android and iOS devices is also in the works. Expect heavy traffic signing up for access over the next couple of days, as Blizzard warns it might need to pull registration offline for a time. Our Take
I’ve been playing Hearthstone in closed beta, and it’s one of the most enjoyable digital CCG experiences I’ve had in quite a while. If you’re a fan of the lore, you’ll likely get a kick out of the card types. If, like me, you’ve not been invested in World of Warcraft, the game mechanics stand on their own.
