[Updated] Grand Theft Auto Online Going Down For Maintenance Tonight
Update: Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto Online is back in action ahead of schedule.
Rockstar posted the following good news today on its official website:
"Update Jan 16 – We’re happy to report this maintenance has now been completed and Grand Theft Auto Online is back up and running. Thanks again everyone for your patience."

If you had plans to team up with some friends for some online GTA mayhem, you're going to need to reschedule. Grand Theft Auto Online is going down at 9:00pm Eastern time, and staying offline through tomorrow.
According a post on the Rockstar support forums, the maintenance is to take 24 hours or less.

Even though you may want to play some GTA Online during the downtime, it's hard to complain about developers taking the time to ensure their games can continue operating. It just comes with the territory in online gaming.
