Wii U, Pokémon X And Y Maintenance Taking Place Evening Of January 6

If you’re trying to play Pokémon X and Y right now, you might running into some problems playing online. Nintendo is currently conducting maintenance that will affect online play and rankings. Concurrently, Wii U service is ongoing that has taken those online features temporarily offline.

Service should be concluded by 9 PM Eastern. You should have no problem playing offline, of course. You just won’t be able to battle and trade.

After Christmas week’s spate of problems with a variety of online services, including Nintendo’s eShop, a little extra scheduled maintenance goes a long way. Pokémon fans can cross their fingers tightly and hope that this work heralds the release of the delayed Pokémon Bank and PokéTransporter.
