Astro A38 Offers Stereo Bluetooth For Mobile And PC
Astro Gaming has announced its first noise-canceling headset, with the introduction of the A38. The headset mirrors the form factor of the on-ear A30, but cuts the cord thanks to bluetooth 4.0.
The A38 is designed for use with mobile and PC gaming and includes a built-in microphone for multiplayer (and other) communication. Astro is touting fifteen hours of chat and twenty hours of music on a single charge, with a five our full charge time.
The A38 isn’t suited for console gaming, even though the PlayStation 4 sports a bluetooth radio. The A38 will be available later this year for $229, but it’s also the product that will kick off Astro’s beta program.
Pre-production A38 units will be available for $119. According to Astro, these are 95 percent of the way complete, and users can participate in fine tuning through a feedback system.
Our Take
The Astro A30 was the first gaming headset I purchased and I used it for quite a while before upgrading to the A40s. It’s also what I used when I used to commute by train an hour each way.
The A38 offers that same portability without the wires. I’m eager to find out how they sound. If they deliver, even the final price of $229 is impressive for a noise canceling, wireless product.
