Cuphead Looks Like A 1930s Cartoon, Coming To PC This Year

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 04, 2014 at 04:39 AM

Taking clear inspiration from early Disney animation, Cuphead from Studio MDHR looks like a lost cartoon from the 1930s.

So far, Studio MDHR has only released two very short teaser trailers with minimal gameplay, but its enough to attract attention.

According to a description of the game on the developer's website, Cuphead is a classic run and gun game focusing on one versus one fights, but there will also be two versus one fights with additional co-op character Mughead. The game will be heavey with bosses, as Studio MDHR plans on beating the record for most bosses in a run and gun game, which currently stands 25.

The game is planned for release this year for PC, but the developer has stated that it is certainly open to more platforms.

Thanks to Preston Tucker for the news tip!

Our Take
Cuphead's art direction is mesmerizing. It's familiar and nostalgic, but also entirely new, at least in the world of video games. I am looking forward to seeing more of the game in action.
