Tomonobu Itagaki’s Devil’s Third Is Nearly Complete And On Track For 2014

by Mike Futter on Dec 30, 2013 at 08:37 AM

Five years ago, Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki left Tecmo Koei. Along with other members of Team Ninja, he formed Valhalla Game Studios.

The team’s first title, Devil’s Third has had some stumbles, but Itagaki says it’s 80 percent complete and planned for release in 2014. Devil’s Third was originally signed by THQ before the company returned the rights to Valhalla.

Since then, there hasn’t been much news out of the studio about Devil’s Third. However, speaking with Japanese outlet 4Gamer, Itagaki has expressed confidence in the progress his team is making.

Devil’s Third is planned for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and mobile devices. For more, you can read an interview we conducted with Itagaki prior to the end of his relationship with now-defunct publisher THQ.

Doobic Game Studios, a South Korean publisher that was formerly part of Nexon, is currently attached to the title. The privately-held company has not updated its Facebook or Twitter profiles since December 2012. The company's last known website (doobic.com) appears to be offline.

Our Take
If 2014 is going to be Devil’s Third’s year, it’s time to start ramping up the communication. Many have forgotten the game exists, and those that remember might not be sure what it’s supposed to be. It’s time for a PR reboot.
