Sonic And Friends Speed Onto Vita For Free With PlayStation Plus

by Mike Futter on Dec 23, 2013 at 04:31 AM

This week’s PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection title sticks with the racing theme that makes up half the entries this month. Sega’s blue blur spin dashes onto the Vita with Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

This title takes players through memorable Sega-themed courses, including tracks inspired by After Burner, Shinobi, Jet Set Radio, and a variety of Sonic games. This kart racer’s conceit is the ever shifting forms of your vehicles as you race across land, sea, and air.

This weeks also marks the last chance to get Soul Sacrifice for Vita, a darker take on the Monster Hunter formula, as part of the Instant Game Collection. Be sure to do that before time runs out.

Our Take
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is one of my favorite kart racers, surpassing most of the recent Mario Kart titles. The level design shines, even when the roster doesn’t quite hold up to what Nintendo offers. I’ve not played it on Vita yet, and I’m looking forward to seeing if it holds up against the console versions.
