Standalone Version Of DayZ Available Now Via Early Access
For many, a desire to play DayZ meant purchasing and installing Bohemia Interactive's Arma II and running a simple mod program. Now, zombie survivalists can trade in their mod for Steam early access. The standalone version of DayZ is available now.
As this is an early access title, there will be bugs and glitches. Still, if you’ve been itching for the game in its Arma-free state, the $29.99 might be worthwhile. DayZ is available now on Steam. For more, check out a recent developer diary.
Our Take
I went through the Arma II mod process, and it was fairly simple. DayZ though, is not. I had no idea what I was doing, and then I died. And then I died again. Here’s hoping that as a free-standing title, DayZ goes a little bit further to welcome new players.
