Double Fine Announces New Game Hack 'n' Slash

by Matt Helgeson on Dec 10, 2013 at 10:21 AM

One of the game prototypes made during Double Fine's annual Amnesia Fortnight game jam is going to see formal release, the action/puzzle title Hack 'n' Slash.

Hack 'n' Slash was one of 23 Amnesia Fortnight prototypes that the public was allowed to vote on, and received the most votes of any of of the game jam projects. It's now in full production and is slated to be released in early 2014 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It will be sold as part of a future Double Fine Humble Bundle.

The game is a top down adventure in which the main character smites her (or his, as the protagonist appears to have changed based on the screenshot above) enemies not by traditional hacking and slashing, but with computer hacking skills. As always, it looks to be a very typical Double Fine game, full of humor and gently tweaking video game conventions.

Double Fine also launched an official Hack 'n' Slash website, but right now all it has is a single screenshot of the game (seen above). Below you can watch a Let's Play video of an early version of the game.
