Microsoft's Larry Hryb Assures Xbox One Party System 'Will Get Better'

by Mike Futter on Dec 03, 2013 at 05:05 AM

Console transitions often require adjustment to new systems, and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One certainly bring a number of changes. One of those is an overhaul to the Xbox Live party system that has left some users disappointed.

One Reddit user shared a picture of his experience trying to play Ryse while in a party. The title advised him that he needed to leave his party. The party system now features some automation, obviating the need for an "Invite Party to Game" option. The system isn't perfect, but there is hope for improvement.

"I had a meeting today about much of this and I can say that things will get better," writes Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb. "I can't offer a timeline of a list of what till [sic] be addressed first, but we are aware of the issue and things will get better."

Our Take
Both next-generation systems were shipped without all of the promised features. We're going to see a lot of these comments pop up from both Sony and Microsoft over the next year or more. Expect that some of the changes will be improved and others still rolled back as community feedback comes in.
