Xbox One SmartGlass Mobile Companion App Now Available

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 19, 2013 at 01:56 PM

The updated version of SmartGlass for Xbox One is now available to download for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices.

This isn't to be confused with the previous SmartGlass companion app that was available for the Xbox 360. This is a new separate app that will integrate with the Xbox One.

The new app shares some functionality with the previous app, like keeping up with your friends' activities and messages, and achievements, but now you will also be able to find more information on games, and customize your dashboard. You can go ahead and download it now to prepare for the Xbox One, which launches on Friday.

To download the app for your specific device, you can head to the following links: iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Windows 8.1.

Our Take
It's nice that the app is available a few days before the launch. It's also nice that it lets you tweak some of your Xbox One's options in preparation for the launch. The Xbox 360's app ultimately didn't add much to the experience, but I am excited to see how the Xbox One app is used.
