Weekend Warrior 11/08/13

by Isaac Perry on Nov 08, 2013 at 01:00 PM

This is the last weekend before the Playstation 4 launches. GI editors are preparing in the best way that they can, by playing as many games of the current gen as they can.

Kyle Hilliard: I have a secret game that I am sure will be demanding all of my gaming time, but if that’s not happening I still want to finish GTA V (I can see the finish line, but it’s still pretty far) and keep moving on Batman. I also played about half of The Swapper recently and am eager to return to that.

Mike Futter: I’ll be diving into some Call of Duty: Ghosts for the first time to take advantage of the double XP weekend. I’m also going to cross my fingers and hope that Batman: Arkham Origins is patched (it keeps freezing on me). I’d also like to continue playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD because with a name that long it has to be awesome. Right?

Tim Turi: This weekend is the first time in a while that I’m not traveling or have big plans, so it’s all about the games. With the Extra Life 2013 marathon behind me (thanks to all who watched and donated!), I’m going to be digging into Batman: Arkham Origins mainly. I may try to sneak in some time with a super secret review game as well.

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend will once again be devoted to my backlog for GotY considerations. The plan is to check out Sly Cooper and Ni No Kuni, plus a handful of indie games. There are way too many games to play, but that’s always a good problem to have.

Matthew Kato: I really hope to play both Gone Home and The Stanley Parable this weekend. Also, I never played Tiny Tower, so I'm interesting in trying out Tiny Death Star to see what all the fuss is about. I have a feeling it will live up to the hype.

Of course, I still have a weighty console backlog to get to like GTA V and Beyond. I started the first hour or so of Beyond, and I'm intrigued. So far, I like the time-spanning episodes. I'm curious about the story, of course, but hope the gameplay can hold up over the entire experience.

Joe Juba: I'm clearing some things out of my backlog before the next generation hits. That means finishing Dead Space 3, playing more Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, and seeing the remaining endings of The Stanley Parable. I also want to devote some extra time to The Swapper and Papers, Please.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I could not be more excited to dive in to a top secret game that's not out yet, sorry for being cryptic but you can probably piece that one together. Outside of that, I'm hell-bent on finishing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team before Zelda 3DS arrives. I'm over 50 hours into Mario and Luigi and am still a ways from the ending, I like it less the more it drags on. But I will finish it! Outside of that, I'll probably keep punching my way through Batman: Arkham Origins. I hope I finish that one as well.

Isaac Perry: This weekend I might take a word from the wise and play The Stanley Parable. I always hear Dan screaming from the test chamber room. I guess I can finally see what the deal is.

Mike Trinh: Pokemon X continues to suck up much of my time, but I will try to sneak some GTA V Online in this weekend. I’ll try to put that stimulus money to good use. I’ll hopefully watch Thor: The Dark World as well.

Katie Seville: Pokemon Y continues to dominate my free time, but I did sneak in some Bioshock Infinite during Extra Life and now I want to keep going. I think I’ll definitely be playing some of that this weekend. I’ve also been beating my fear of zombies into submission by watching The Walking Dead, so maybe I’ll finally work up the courage to play Telltale’s game. Lastly, I’d really like to download Beyond Good & Evil HD on my 360. I played that game to death on the GameCube, and I never got sick of it.
