by Mike Futter on Nov 07, 2013 at 10:00 AM

When the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch later this month, gamers are going to have two different basketball titles to choose from. EA Sports and 2K Sports have been firing volleys for fans’ attention. Today, we get a look at the Eco-Motion engine powering NBA 2K14 on the next-gen hardware.

In the video below, you’ll get a chance to see some of the ways 2K Sports is putting the engine to use. From more authentic emotional reactions to improving the way the ball handles friction from the floor and collision with a hand, the next gen version is a step forward from the version on Xbox 360 and PS3.

NBA 2K14 will be available on November 15 for PlayStation 4 and November 22 for Xbox One. You can read our review of the current-gen versions here.

Our Take
I’m not a basketball fan, but NBA 2K14 still has my attention. In many ways, it could end up being the Fight Night Round 3 of this generation’s launch. People will be looking for more to play, and at this point in the cycle, gamers are willing to broaden their horizons a bit.
