Bungie Won’t Spread Itself Too Thin To Ship Destiny On PC

by Mike Futter on Nov 04, 2013 at 02:16 AM

One of the most anticipated console releases is Bungie’s first post-Halo title, Destiny. PC gamers have frequently questioned the absence of their platform of choice from the release list. Bungie’s Eric Osborne, senior writer and community manager, has an answer.

In speaking with IGN, Osborne addresses the calls for a PC version of the upcoming open-world shooter. “What we 100 percent are not going to do is spread ourselves so thin that it negatively harms the other platforms,” Osborne says. “So right now we have the four platforms, which is a lot to focus on."

Bungie is slated for release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3. The IGN interview also offers comments on microtransactions and the role of space travel in the title. For more on Destiny, check out our recent coverage.

Our Take
In the interview, Osborne doesn’t rule out a PC version. However, looking at Bungie’s recent history, if it does come, it will likely be much later. If you’re a fan of the studio’s work, you’re best off planning to play it on a console. As for which, that’s a decision you’ll need to make for yourself. You have some time though, as Bungie hasn’t pinned a date on Destiny (beyond a 2014 window) and it could be some time before we see it released.
