If you are an Xbox 360 owner and were feeling left out when Halo: Spartan Assault was announced for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, your mourning period is almost over. The twin-stick shooter is coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One later this year.

In addition to the content that’s been enjoyed on the other platforms, the Flood are joining the fight. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions also come with a new co-op mode and missions designed for cooperative play.

The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions will also include the Operation Hydra expansion and will also include additional weapons, armor abilities, and upgrades.

You can look for that on both consoles in December, but be aware that the two versions are sold separately, meaning you’ll need to buy it twice to play on both the 360 and the Xbox One. For more on Halo: Spartan Assault, check out our review of the original release from this summer.

Our Take
I’ve been hopeful that Halo: Spartan Assault would make the jump to consoles. Microsoft is smart to slot it into the schedule in December, giving players something new (especially on the Xbox One) in a familiar franchise to tide them over until the new year. My only disappointment is that Microsoft has the ability to enable cross-platform purchase for the 360 and Xbox One versions and has chosen to make those separate items.
