Google Partners With MinecraftEdu To Release Quantum Physics Mod

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Google's Quantum A.I. Lab Team have released a mod for Minecraft which adds quantum physics mechanics to the game as a way of educating Minecraft fans on the topic.

On the official page for the mod a post about the qCraft mod says, "qCraft is not a simulation of quantum physics (this is v1 after all) but it does provide ‘analogies’ that attempt to show how quantum behaviors are different from everyday experience."

You can download the qCraft mod and learn more about it by heading here. You can check out a video showcasing the mod below.

Our Take
I don't know much about quantum physics beyond the wikipedia entry on the science, which is why I think this mod is very interesting. I really admire MinecraftEdu and Mojang's attempts to add educational mechanics to the game, and Google getting involved certainly couldn't hurt.
