Activision And Scottish Tourism Pair Skylands With The Isle Of Skye

by Mike Futter on Oct 16, 2013 at 06:58 AM

The concept of "sister cities" isn't a new one, and the concept has spread from major metropolises to small towns. Activision and VisitScotland are doing something a little different, though.

The duo have virtually "twinned" the Isle of Skye with Skylanders' fictional Skylands. One of the new characters, Wash Buckler, visited the island and its children. Additionally, the Isle of Skye website features Skylanders characters. To activate the unique features, simply type SWAP while on the homepage.

Our Take
Sure this is just a marketing campaign, but it's clever and cute. If you are a fan of the franchise, it's worth popping over to the Isle of Skye website and trying it out. It's also brilliant for VisitScotland. Attaching tourism to one of the biggest game properties out there is likely to reach a new audience and attract new visitors to the Isle of Skye.
