Report: Microsoft Improves Xbox One CPU, Begins Production

Microsoft isn't ready to confirm the Xbox One's release date, but it is confirming that production of the console has begun, and is coming along smoothly. It's going so smoothly, in fact, that Microsoft was able to boost the CPU performance of the system to 1.75 GHZ from 1.6 GHZ. Early last month, Microsoft announced that it had improved the system's GPU speed.

The news comes from Geekwire, who reports that at the Citi Global Technology Conference, Xbox chief marketing officer Yusef Mehdi confirmed that the console is in full production. Mehdi said, “This will be the biggest launch we’ve ever done by a wide margin in terms of units shipped at launch.”

Our Take
It's strange to not know the release date of a console that is currently being manufactured. Microsoft has confirmed that it will be available in November, but not much else. The PlayStation 4 is launching November 15, and where the Xbox One lands in relation to that date is very important. Hopefully Microsoft will offer an announcement soon.
