Update: Sony UK's Twitter account has tweeted a correction on their GTA V on PS4 tweet.

An error occurred while retrieving the Tweet. It might have been deleted.

Original Story:

We're taking this with a grain of salt, especially since official Twitter accounts haven't been the most reliable lately. However, the official Sony UK Twitter feed seems pretty confident about a next-generation version of Grand Theft Auto V appearing on the PlayStation 4.

We've reached out to both Sony and Rockstar for guidance on whether this is a goof or if Sony UK just let a San Andreas-sized cat out of the bag. Rockstar says it doesn't have an official statement (Update: Rockstar has now informed us that the Sony UK tweet was a typographical error), and Sony hasn't gotten back to us yet. Our fingers are crossed that this comes to fruition.

Thanks, Mike!

Our Take
As I stated up front, we're cautiously optimistic about this one. A next-generation GTA V wouldn't be entirely surprising, and we wouldn't expect official confirmation until well after the current-gen version launches on September 17.

Rockstar wouldn't want to cannibalize sales by giving people a reason to hold off on a purchase. A next-gen version is just feasible enough that we thought we'd share this tweet with you.
