Lost Planet 3 Soundtrack Available Next Week

by Kimberley Wallace on Aug 23, 2013 at 01:34 PM

Composer Jack Wall, known for his work on Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Mass Effect 1 & 2, announced today that the digital version of the Lost Planet 3 soundtrack will be available August 27 via his Lost In Sound Records label.

Split into two volumes, Alien Country Music and Score, each take a very different view of the soundtrack. Score is just as it sounds - a cinematic soundtrack as seen in the game. Alien Country Music, on the other hand, contains reimaginations using country and rock themes to "create a country music of the future."

"When Spark and Capcom asked me to write alien country as roughly half of the soundtrack to Lost Planet 3, I was really intrigued," Wall says. "It would be the main character's mix tape. This is the music Jim Peyton listens to when he's on mission in his rig - the music his wife Grace, back on Earth, sends him to remind him of home. The challenge was to make it real, but add just enough elements and context to make it seem like it is music from the future."

Samples of the tracks can be found at Jack Wall's official website.

Our Take

More game soundtracks are never a bad thing, and Wall's sample track Rattlesnake is more than a little reminiscent of the music from Firefly.  Who couldn't love that?
