Earlier this week, Ubisoft announced the first non-Rayman game to be built on the UBIart framework engine. Child of Light from Patrick Plourde, director of Far Cry 3, is only one of many UbiArt titles in development says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

In an interview today, Guillemot told Game Informer that the engine is currently getting a lot of use across the publisher's business with "many titles" in development. Those games aren't ready to be announced, but he assured us they are coming.

We also inquired on the status of providing the powerful tools to others. Guillemot told us that licensing plans are still under consideration, but the necessary support structure is not yet in place. Once Ubisoft can properly provide the customer service to those that buy into UbiArt, we expect the company will move forward. Rayman creator Michel Ancel previously expressed his desire to see the engine be available as an open source technology.

Rayman Legends will be the second UBIart Framework title. It will be released on September 3 for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Vita, and PC. The full video interview with Guillemot will be available soon.
