The Berlin DLC for Shadowrun Returns was originally scheduled to release in October. However, developer Harebrained Schemes announced that the add-on won't be out until January 2014 – but it's going to be better due to the delay.

Expanding the scope of the Berlin content is the reason for the push. With the additional time, the team will make structure more flexible, the story more involved, and more depth to the characters. Other new additions – like outfits, weapons, and creatures – are also being implemented.

If the quality of the Berlin DLC can match the base game (read our review here), then RPG fans shouldn't mind waiting a few extra months.

Our Take

Delays can be disappointing if they affect titles that you're eagerly anticipating. However, it's hard to argue that they are bad, especially in cases like this. The extra time is clearly giving the team the opportunity to improve the content and make it better than it would have been otherwise.
