Domo Jump Out Now For iOS

by Liz Lanier on Jul 31, 2013 at 08:11 AM

Domo-kun is one of those Japanese creations where you either get it or you don't, much like Doraemon and Hello Kitty. Thankfully, you don't really have to "get" Domo-kun to download Domo Jump, the latest game featuring the eternally grimacing creature for iOS.

Just as the title implies, the player must help Domo-kun jump his way through various levels and grab gems and diamonds in order to earn prizes like kawaii outfits and snacks that are sure to be oishii. The gameplay is similar to perennial favorite Doodle Jump.

For those who are wondering, Domo-kun originated as a stop-motion animated television network mascot in Jaoan during the '90s and, after catching the fancy of the public, now appears on all sorts of merchandise. He even has his own comic book in North America.

Enough with the Japanese culture lesson though— Domo Jump is out now for iPhone and iPad and is currently free. What are you waiting for?

Our Take
While it doesn't look like it has particularly complex gameplay or an enthralling story, Domo Jump still looks like it would be a fun title worth a download. Domo's growing popularity in the states will likely lead to a decent amount of downloads.
