One of the big questions people had in the months leading to the Xbox One was whether their Xbox 360 game libraries would be making the transition to the next generation. The answer is simple: no.

“We started with a completely new architecture for this generation, and the architecture that we have with the 360, that would have been limiting to go forward with,” says Todd Holmdahl, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of hardware.

Microsoft says that plans to continue supporting the Xbox 360 for years to come, and that people will get a sense of that continued investment at E3. Perhaps people will have a reason to keep their older console plugged in. If you want to keep playing those legacy games, that appears to be the only solution.
