Concept Art For Abandoned Disney Games Surfaces

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 06, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Long before Epic Mickey was created, Disney had been working on a couple of intriguing projects, including a game called Spy Mickey.

The Japanese gaming site Siliconera acquired the artwork from an artist who once worked for Disney's old video game division, Buena Vista Games. As you can see, Spy Mickey appeared to star Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck in some sort of gadget heavy techno-spy experience.

The other (unnamed) project was a fighting party game (pictured below) starring a host of popular Disney characters in the vein of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series. There were also plans to revive the lesser known Rocketeer movie franchise in video game form.

It's an interesting look at what might have been.
