Nintendo Cuts Wii U Sales Forecast

Nintendo has cut its sales expectations for the Wii U in its projections for the current fiscal year ending in late March. The company, however, will still see a profit for the time period.

Last October Nintendo expected to sell 5.5 million units of the Wii U worldwide, but now this figure is down to four million. Numbers for the 3DS handheld have also been adjusted to 15 million down from 18.5 million.

Since the Wii U's launch in November, the console has sold 3.06 million units around the world.

Despite these sales adjustments, Nintendo says it expects to make 14 billion yen this fiscal year (due to a weakened yen) as opposed to the originally forecasted 6 billion yen.
