Here's Where You Think THQ's Properties Should Wind Up

by Dan Ryckert on Jan 23, 2013 at 07:03 AM

News regarding the sale of THQ's properties is set to hit sometime later today, and we'll be sure to let you know once it has. In the meantime, we wanted to revisit a question we asked you readers earlier this month.

A reader discussion post asked where the best home for THQ's various properties was, and you had plenty of ideas.

Here are some comments that we received:

Leo Vader: Square Enix might be a good fit for Saints Row, they kicked ass with Just Cause 2 and Sleeping Dogs.

calvin huffI would like it if EA acquired the Homefront series. They already have a good working relationship with Crytek and they could finally put MOH out to pasture where it belongs.

Anonymous Tom: "Where Is The Best Home For THQ's Various Properties?" Apparently not THQ.

Tron39If any of those franchises go to either Ubisoft or Warner Bros, then I will rest easy.

Deadbull: It would be cool if Square got Saints Row and Capcom could do a really good job with Darksiders.

Raven K: I'd like to see WB Interactive snag up as many as they think they can properly support (marketing/PR, etc) as they seem like they're at that stage where they're looking to expand; aside from Take-Two, I don't particularly like the stables, or the handling of those stables, of any of the major pub-houses. I think any of the properties, with the notable exception of Saint's Row, would do well in Take-Two's hands. They would -understandably- have no reason to want SR (and likewise it'd be bad news for SR fans).

nathan98I think Ubisoft would do good on Darksiders. Probaby Warner for Saints Row. And take 2 for the Metro series, and Company of Heroes

Rainbow Dash: Most series can probably go to Warner Brothers. I think that they do a decent job. Company of Heroes can go to Activision-Blizzard. Blizzard will probably try to make CoH closer to Starcraft, but they are pretty good at making RTS's. The only problem is that it would be years before we see another title. I would like for Saint's Row to go to Rockstar (Take-Two,) but that leaves the risk that they'll abandon the franchise so that there is no competition for GTA.

RednekGamurz: I dunno about these other franchises, I just hope someone picks up the Destroy all Humans! series and does something great with it

Paradigmthefallen: NOT EA OR ACTIVISION. Otherwise, I'm okay with it. Red Faction would do well in either Valve or Gearbox's hands. Saints Row could go to Warner or Ubisoft. Darksiders could go wherever. Besides that... wherever the wind takes them. SO LONG AS IT ISN'T ACTIVISION OR EA. Particularly Activision, because they just devour franchises and drop the husks.

Thesmurfswillrise: Ubisoft or maybe even Capcom could get Darksiders, Homefront to Microsoft, South Park to Microsoft, WWE to EA, Saints Row to Activison.

Most of you: Anywhere but Activision

Here are some of the more popular answers:

Saints Row: Take Two, Warner Bros., Ubisoft

Darksiders: Warner Bros., SquareEnix, Capcom, Bethesda

Red Faction: Ubisoft

Metro: Square Enix

Homefront: Microsoft, Electronic Arts

South Park: Microsoft, Take Two

WWE: Electronic Arts

A few ideas from us:

Saints Row: Electronic Arts. They'd have their Grand Theft Auto.

Darksiders: Konami. It fits well with Castlevania.

WWE: Take Two. Let them give it the NBA 2K treatment.

South Park: Microsoft. They championed it at E3.

Homefront: Square Enix. It seems like a nice fit.

1666Ubisoft. Patrice Desilets goes home.

Stay tuned for updates on the ongoing THQ story.
