2K Sports Returns To The Mound With MLB 2K13

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 09, 2013 at 03:50 AM

2K Sports is making a surprise return to the big leagues with the announcement of Major League Baseball 2K13 on Xbox 360 and PS3. Previously, the publisher looked certain to not renew its licensing rights as the exclusive third-party publisher for MLB titles on consoles.

Visual Concepts is developing the game, which will come out on March 5 (featuring Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price). Also returning is the franchise's $1 million Perfect Pitch Challenge.

Last spring, publisher 2K said that it was not expecting to renew its MLB license, as it was an admitted money loser for them given the cost of the license itself.

Today, in a press release, Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports, shed a little light on the subject. "We’d like to thank our league partners for their support in helping us reach an agreement to bring back MLB 2K," he said.

Any terms regarding 2K and MLB's new deal were not disclosed. We'll update you on the situation if we find out any more info.
