Star Trek Video Game Release Date Announced
Paramount and Namco Bandai give April 23, 2013 as launch day for the video game based on JJ Abrams' lens-flared new vision of the classic sci-fi franchise. Are you ready for Kirk & Spock to go all Salem & Rio (the Army of Two dinguses. How could you possibly not remember that?) on some bad guys?
The companies also unveiled the box art for the PS3 and 360 versions of the game (click through for high-res images), featuring the swoon-tastic Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in delightfully form-fitting combat uniforms.
Those so moved to live Gene Roddenberry's vision of a post-scarcity utopian society third-person cover-based shooter that they pre-order the game will receive the following items in the "Elite Officer Pack" pre-order bonus:
- Stealth Pack: Stealth uniforms for Kirk and Spock, plus a sniper rifle plus ammo
- Brawler Pack: A leather jacket for Kirk and a Vulcan Science Academy getup for Spock
- Kelvin Pack: Uniforms for both from the USS Kelvin, plus a hand phaser from that ship
- Academy Pack: Kirk's Academy uniform, Spock's officer dress threads, and an Academy phaser
- Kobayashi Maru Pack: Uniforms for the pair from the legendary doomed ship simulation
