Report: PlanetSide 2 Receives First Major Update

by Mike Mahardy on Dec 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Sony Online Entertainment's MMOFPS has received a massive -- no pun intended -- update that allows players to make more than one character on the same server, along with a slew of other changes.

Some assault rifles and carbines have received better accuracy while moving. However, those with magazines of more than 40 rounds received a small stat decrease. Increased damage for tanks, as well as a decrease in the damage of aircraft rocket pods and gattling guns, has also been implemented. Liberator aircraft now sport the tail gun on the back of their wings, instead of underneath, giving pilots a much better firing angle.

Shield generators have also been added to the outside of tech plants to negate recurring stalemates and to provide attackers additional targets and defenders more objectives.

General bug crashes are also addressed in the update. For the full list of changes, head to Sony's blog. To read Game Informer's evaluation of PlanetSide 2, click here
