Comic-Con Stays In San Diego Through 2016

by Jim Reilly on Oct 29, 2012 at 01:07 PM

Comic-Con International is staying in San Diego through 2016 despite major pitches from competing cities Los Angeles and Anaheim.

The Los Angeles Times reports San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders managed to extend the city's current deal one extra year to 2016. This gives San Diego time to complete its $520 million convention center expansion plan that is still going through state approval processes.

This year, Comic-Con in San Diego saw over 130,000 attendees.
