How Do You Feel About An iOS Borderlands Game?

by Kimberley Wallace on Oct 22, 2012 at 10:45 AM

We’ve seen a shift in more games heading to iOS, the latest – Borderlands Legends –  which promises to keep the love for loot alive with thousands of different weapons. The iOS title also taps into the RPG elements from its older brother with abilities to unlock and powers unique to your character selection.

But why was iOS the choice for a game like this? Years ago, the PSP or DS would have been the top choice for a game in this vein, though lately we’re seeing more and more pick-up-and-play games heading to iOS.  Do you think the iPhone and iPad could eventually replace handhelds? Would you prefer playing Borderlands Legends on a dedicated system such as the Vita as opposed to iOS?

After all, Randy Pitchford did say in an interview with Eurogamer that  he did have interest putting Borderlands 2 on the Vita, but didn’t have the manpower to do it. He also thought the game would great for portable adventures. The potential is there, but why aren’t more of these games shifting to the Vita, especially since it replicates the iPad's touchscreen? Do you ever wish you could take Borderlands on the road with you? Are there any other games you played on your mobile phone that you wish were for the Vita, instead?

And probably the most important question: Where do you see the future of gaming heading with dedicated handheld devices?
