Fincher-Produced Trailer Shows The Man Beneath Master Chief's Mask

by Jeff Cork on Oct 19, 2012 at 04:32 AM

Last night, the Halo 4 Scanned trailer debuted on Jimmy Fallon's show. If you're one of those sensible types who go to bed at 8:00, the clip has been released for your viewing pleasure.

The video, which is embedded below, shows a rare glimpse at John, the man beneath Master Chief's iconic Spartan armor. It starts with him as a boy, shifts to his abduction and subsequent indoctrination into the UNSC's Spartan program, and ends with a thrilling look at the end result in action. It's all framed in a flashback sequence, which shows an equally rare glimpse at Master Chief looking helpless.

Scanned was produced by acclaimed director David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and directed by visual-effects veteran Tim Miller (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) Don't confuse this clip with the Halo 4 webseries Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, which is also a live-action look at the Halo universe.

Until someone decides to revisit the canned Halo film adaptation, these bite-sized chunks are the next best thing.
