Call of Duty: Elite's Free Integration Into Black Ops II

by Matthew Kato on Oct 15, 2012 at 05:40 AM

Update: Activision has confirmed a season pass for Black Ops II, although the Elite features for the game will remain free.

The season pass gets you four DLC map packs for 4,000 Microsoft Points or ($49.99). Each map pack will also run individually for 1,200 MP or $15.

"What we have realized," said Eric Hirshberg, Activision CEO, "is that several of the Call of Duty Elite services which are currently only available to our premium members for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are things that would further unite, engage, and delight our player community.  So we are going to make them free for Call of Duty: Black Ops II.”

The DLC will be available in 2013, with firm release dates to be announced later.

Original Story: Activision has outlined some of the Call of Duty: Elite features in Black Ops II, including the news that it's all free.

As the new trailer for Elite demonstrates, Black Ops II's Elite support includes the ability to copy competitors' loadouts, zombie stats, a Clan HQ that lets you play MW 3, and more.

Previously Elite had a paid, premium component as well, including content drops. However, Activision hasn't announced what the Elite premium aspect for Black Ops II will be. Earlier there were rumors of a Black Ops II season pass, but it's unknown how this might interface with any potential paid version of Elite.

Black Ops II comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 13, and for the Wii U on November 18.
