Weekend Warrior 08/31/12

by Ben Reeves on Aug 31, 2012 at 02:00 PM

Summer is waning, but our love for games will never die. Some of us are still working though Darksiders II, while others are stuffing ourselves with fried food. What's camping? And why is everyone talking about it?

Jeff Cork: I started Darksiders II last weekend, but I encountered a lovely game-breaking glitch. It’s certainly a drag, but it also gave me an excuse to get around to playing some other things. First up? Shadows of the Damned. I’ve only put a few hours into it so far, but I like what I’ve seen so far. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and I’m always up for a little demon slaying. Maybe someday THQ will release a patch for Darksiders 2, and I can dig it out of my backlog pile…

Joe Juba: I've also got a game of Darksiders II going, and that's reserved for when I have a few free hours back-to-back this weekend. For the smaller chunks of time, I'm going to chip away at Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth on PSP, which I started replaying this week. Side note: The game I popped out of my PSP was Valkyria Chronicles II, so I can conclude that, before this week, I had not played my PSP in a long, long time.

Jason Pfitzer: Got a busy weekend coming up! Going to a wedding tomorrow, and then hitting up the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday! No labor day plans yet. Games-wise, I'm getting ready for a weekend of mods. Planning on playing a ton of DayZ (Arma II) and cRPG (Mount & Blade: Warband).

Jeff Marchiafava: I’ve temporarily set aside the slow pace of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood for the absurd Hong Kong action of Sleeping Dogs. The game is rough around the edges and the animations feel a little stilted, but I’m enjoying the freedom and – surprisingly – the story. I also might check out episode three of The Walking Dead – I just got around to playing the second episode, and am looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.
