Pokémon World Champions Crowned

by Matthew Kato on Aug 20, 2012 at 05:36 AM

The Pokémon World Championships just took place in Waikoloa, Hawaii, and six champions have been named in different categories encompassing both the card game and video game sides.

Hundreds of contestants battled from over 30 different countries, and Ray Rizzo from the U.S. walked away with a three-peat as the Video Game Master Division World Champion.

All the champions not only got a special Pikachu trophy, but they collectively earned $100,000 in scholarships. Plus, some of the video game finalists and their teams will be distributed as trainer avatars in the World Tournament battle arena in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 on the 3DS (more details will be available after the games' launch on October 7).
