John Schappert Resigns From Zynga
Former EA and Microsoft executive John Schappert resigned from his position as chief operating officer at Zynga today. Zynga said his resignation was not tendered in connection with any disagreement with the company's operations, policies or practices.
"We can confirm that John Schappert has left Zynga and its Board of Directors effective immediately," Zynga CEO Mark Pincus said in a statement sent to Game Informer. "John has made significant contributions to the games industry throughout his career and we appreciate all that he has done for Zynga.
"John leaves as a friend of the company and we wish him all the best.”
A Bloomberg report last month said Schappert was stripped of his role overseeing game development during a company reorganization. Schappert joined Zynga in May 2011 after serving as COO of Electronic Arts. From 2007 to 2009, Schappert served as Xbox Live's vice president. In 1994, he founded Tiburon Entertainment, which was later acquired by Electronic Arts in 1998.
