Weekend Warrior 8/3/12

by Ali Rapp on Aug 03, 2012 at 02:00 PM

This weekend, we're becoming Keyblade masters, high-jumping plumbers, and pro-football players. We'll also probably get around to doing our laundry and other boring things.

Kyle Hilliard: I’ve been slowly making my way through Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. I wish I could fast-forward the dialogue sequences. I don’t want to skip them, I just want everyone to talk a little bit faster. I’m also very interested in Deadlight. Outside of video games, I’ll be washing clothes with my clothes washing robot, having gibberish conversations with a nine-month old, possibly looking at some zoo animals, and writing news for the website.

Jeff Cork: My goal for the weekend is to try out a handful of games I never got around to playing. So far, my plans include Shadows of the Damned and El Shaddai. I may get back into L.A. Noire, too. I’ve been binging on Mad Men, and I’m looking forward to moving Ken Cosgrove around like a puppet. Who am I kidding? I’ll just end up playing Pinball FX 2 (and Pinball Arcade) like I always do.

Matthew Kato: Going to be playing plenty of Madden 13 in prep for the upcoming review, and NHL 13 is also in the office. I'm not sure if I'll be on the NHL 13 review (should be Bertz), so I'm torn. I'd love to sink hours into setting up my GM career, but I know that none of it will transfer once I buy the retail version. Do I waste my time knowing I've got to set up my career all over again?

Kimberley Wallace: Two RPGs I’ve been anticipating hit this week – Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time, so my goal is to devote some serious time into them. The Kingdom Hearts series is my guilty pleasure, and I’ve been dying to be reunited with Sora and Riku. I’m also excited to see how Dream Drop Distance will lead into Kingdom Hearts III. Growslanser: Wayfarer of Time should also be right up my alley with its multiple endings and dating sim elements. Plus, I love my strategy RPGs, and they don’t come around nearly enough.

Jeff Marchiafava
: I didn’t get to play many video games last weekend, so I still have the urge to stab more dudes in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and do some more grinding in Rainbow Moon. I’m afraid to see what scores Cork and Andy have been posting in Pinball FX 2, but I’m sure they’ve provided me with the excuse to burn a few more hours playing pinball.

Ben Hanson
: I’ve been saying this since March, but this weekend I hope to finish off Xenoblade. I’m sorry that I’m not more interesting. I’ll also throw in some New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii – I’m trying to finish that one off before the Wii U comes out. In between those bricks I’ll slap in a little mortar known as Resident Evil Revelations, Jurassic Park Builder, and Wind-Up Knight. Have a good weekend!

Josh Straub
: This weekend I will be playing some classic Mario as well as some Super Mario 3D Land in preparation for the New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Ali Rapp: I'm spending the weekend at my parents' house because my high school reunion is on Saturday. Wahoo! My parents also apparently got a pool, and needless to say, video games and pools don't go well together, so…I am getting Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 and Borderlands in the mail, though, so maybe I'll give one of those a try Sunday night. Oh, and I'll be weeping because I can't play KH 3D yet.
