NBA Star Baron Davis Started An iOS Video Game Company

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 01, 2012 at 07:20 AM

NBA Star Baron Davis, along with Sean O'Brien formerly of EA Sports, have started 5 Balloons, an iOS game development company. Its first game, Getting Buckets, is available now.

The game itself is an endless runner where you can choose from players Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Jennings, Candace Parker, and Baron Davis as they collect buckets while dribbling a basketball. I am not a big basketball fan, so maybe I am missing something but, has bucket collection always been a staple of the sport?

If you've been following the journey of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, you will remember that the most recent foray into the world of video games from a sports celebrity, didn't end very well. Davis' outing is somewhat lower risk than an open-world console RPG, though. I am also assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that he didn't borrow money from the state of Rhode Island to fund his game.
