Final Fantasy III Heading Over To Ouya Console

by Jeff Cork on Jul 31, 2012 at 03:30 AM

The makers of the Android-based console Ouya announced a partnership with Square Enix, which includes an HD remake of the old-school RPG Final Fantasy III. Ouya released a carefully crafted statement, saying the release will mark the first time the game will be playable on televisions outside of Japan. The game did come out on the DS worldwide back in 2006, but we're not talking about that right now.

The announcement, which can be read on Ouya's Kickstarter page, says this release will just be the kicking-off point for what will be a larger partnership between the two companies. As with all games on the upcoming console, players will be able to download a demo before committing to a purchase.

Neither company has released screens of the remake, so we'll have to take Ouya at their word when they promise "glorious graphic detail."
