A Japanese government agency is investigating a number of cases where the PlayStation Vita charging port would burn while plugged in.
According to a new report from Yomiuri, a newspaper in Japan, there have been a total of 31 cases of burning Vitas since launch last year in Japan. 23 were in Japan while the remaining 8 were in North America, UK, and Australia.
No injuries have been reported so far. Sony says the problem is not related to product malfunction and instead with people getting liquids or other objects in the port. Those with a burnt connector will have to pay for their own repairs. There will not be a recall as of now.
