Chicago Cubs Wear Mario Bros. Disguises After Embarrassing Sweep

by Andrew Reiner on Jul 24, 2012 at 05:08 AM

After losing three games in a row to the St. Louis Cardinals, and only scoring one measly run in all three games, Chicago Cubs players hid their shame under super hero disguises as they departed Busch Stadium for the airport. No matter how this series turned out for baseball's Loveable Losers, the players and coaches organized a "Super Hero Day" of cosplay.

Carlos Marmol left the locker room in a Zorro outfit. The speedy Tony Campana sped toward the bus in a Flash outfit. Three of the Cubs coordinated their appreciation of Super Mario Bros. Bryan LaHair was Mario. Steve Clevenger was Wario. And Scott Maine wore Waluigi instead of Luigi. ESPN's Doug Padilla snapped a handful of photos of the players leaving the dugout. You can find these shots on his Twitter feed.
