Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery And Critter Crunch Developers Hint At Upcoming Projects

The developers behind games like Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP and Critter Crunch hinted at some of their upcoming projects on the recent 8-4 Play Podcast.

Capybara Games has already announced its next game, Super Time Force, self-described as a Contra-esque side-scrolling shooter with plot elements from the movie Butterfly Effect.

Capybara’s Kris Piotrowski made a few hints about its other games, but they were ambiguous at best. The company is working on two games. One has a little bit of overlap with Sworcery in terms of mood. Capybara is citing games like Dark Souls, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and Out of This World as influence. “It’s in no way a sequel to Sworcery, but it is coming from the same place,” said Piotrowski.

The other game is, “light hearted,” and, “totally insane.” Piotrowski said that they are looking at the Adult Swim show Super Jail for the game’s vibe, but it’s not like the show.

Superbrothers’ Craig D. Adams was also on hand to talk about his next game, which is a spiritual successor to Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery in the sense that the game's title will have “Superbrothers:” as a prefix. One of the few hints he offered was that Sword & Sworcery was a 2D game and Adams’ next game would not be, and it won’t have the hard pixel art-style.

PAX Prime is the goal for the reveal of Capybara’s next game, but Piotrowski didn’t seem very confident about making that goal.
