NBA 2K13 Cover Athletes Revealed

After teasing players with a not-so-cryptic image hinting at this year's NBA 2K cover athletes, 2K Games has confirmed everyone's suspicions with the final box art.

The teaser image (below), which contains two griffins, a tarantula, and a bed of roses, looks more like a David Lynch movie poster than anything associated with NBA 2K, but sports fans quickly figured out that it represents LA Clippers' Blake Griffin, Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose, and Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin "Durantula" Durant. And here I thought NBA 2K13 would be the first basketball game to let you play as animals.

All three players said it was an honor to be chosen, and considering the fact that Michael Jordan has been on the cover for the past two years, I can see why. Unlike last year when 2K released three separate covers featuring Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson, this year's cover puts all three athletes on the same box. Here it is:

2K Games has been tight lipped about what changes NBA 2K13 will introduce to player, but we managed to squeak out a little more information during our E3 demo, so check it out if you want to see what's new. NBA 2K13 will be available on October 2.
