Something's Up With Rock Band iOS

by Jim Reilly on May 03, 2012 at 04:04 AM

Update: EA has apparently changed its tune regarding the iOS version of Rock Band. Players were greeted with a message stating that the game was going to be rendered unplayable starting May 31, which created a bit of a stir online. Now the publisher says the notice was sent in error.

"Rock Band for iOS will remain live - the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error,"  EA wrote in the statement, which was sent to CNET. "We apologize for the confusion this caused. We're working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible."

Now we just have to wait to see if the additional information that EA plans on sharing is simply another termination date.

Some players of Rock Band for iOS were met with a disturbing message this morning. The game will no longer be playable at the end of May.

The purported image above first surfaced on Reddit today showing the in-game notice. Developer Harmonix said it's not aware of the cause of this issue and is currently in contact with EA about the situation.

Rock Band on iTunes is still available for purchase, however, and there is no warning about the game expiring on May 31 anywhere on the product page.

We'll update this story once we hear more from both Harmonix and EA.
